The procrastinator's guide to HR Technology Conference 2019
Est. Read Time: 3 min.
If you’re that rare HR conference-goer who already nailed down which sessions to attend, scheduled one-on-one meetings with vendors, and filled your evenings with networking events and dinners—we salute you. If you’re among the rest (er, most) who tend to tackle these items on the plane ride there, don’t stress. There’s still time to make the most of HR Technology Conference 2019 with our tips:
Tip #1: Drink all the beer, make all the friends
Never got to make dinner plans for the first night? That’s a good thing because the pub crawl on Tuesday is not to be missed. If not only for the free beer, it’s the best opportunity to make new connections as everyone is feeling fresh and full of energy at this point.
The PeopleDoc team will continue the pub crawl fun on Wednesday, 3:00 - 5:30pm. Come by booth 2922 for a refreshing Lagunitas, Fat Tire, or Mirror Pond.
Tip #2: Seriously, schedule those vendor meetings ASAP
It’s not too late to set up one-on-one time with any of the HR tech vendors you’ve been eyeing. Scheduling a meeting in advance ensures you won’t be waiting around to talk to someone in the expo hall during peak traffic. Not only that, you’ll get more personalized info if a vendor knows your interests and industry beforehand.

Tip #3: Attend a live demo theater
Many vendors have pre-scheduled times for demos that walk you through real-life workplace scenarios. Sign up for these ahead of time because not only do these demos tend to be more immersive, but you could win a sweet prize.
There’s still time to register for one of PeopleDoc’s demo theater sessions and be entered to win a regulation-size Cornhole set or a Yeti Roadie 20 Cooler. Here’s the schedule:

Tip #4: Rub elbows with the HR stars
If you didn’t have time to plan which sessions to attend, rest assured—you can’t go wrong with any of them. The speakers this year are some of the most forward-thinking leaders in the industry. There’s even the chance to meet one of our favorites, Cecile Alper-Leroux, VP of HCM Innovation at Ultimate Software, who’s speaking on the panel, New Technologies to Manage Workplace Diversity.
Pick up a free copy of her book, From Dissonance to Resonance: Bringing Your People and Organization Into Sync, at PeopleDoc booth 2922 on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Then, take it over to Ultimate Software booth 1906 where Cecile will be there to sign copies.
Tip #5: Take a breather at PeopleDoc’s Backyard Bash
Las Vegas is all about glitz and glamour, but if you want a more chill vibe then visit PeopleDoc’s Backyard Bash at booth 2922 any time during expo hall hours. We’ll be playing your favorite outdoor games on the grass with hops in hand. Plus, there’s a chance to win everything you need for your next summer gathering.
Tip #6: Nab a backup battery charger
Nothing is worse than your phone dying midway through the day, especially when you’re trying to find your colleagues or swap contact info with a new connection. If you raced out of the house without packing your backup charger, grab one at PeopleDoc booth 2922 along with some other fun swag.
The beauty of HR tech is that there’s so much going on that even if you don’t plan ahead, you’ll be sure to walk away with fresh ideas, new contacts and fond memories. We can’t wait to see you there!

Conducting user research to build innovative HR technology solutions
September 27th was a big day for the Design and Product team at PeopleDoc. We visited the Shared Services Center of one of our customers. It was an opportunity for us to see our users at their workplace, talk with them and see how they use our HR technology solutions. Visits like this are always a great source of inspiration and insights. They allow us to better know the people we design for. But let me explain to you why knowing our users is so important and how it allows us to build better products.
6 ways to prevent FOMO at HR Tech 2018
With 59 sessions, 400+ vendors and 9,000 people, you’re going to experience some degree of FOMO at HR Tech. Since you can’t do it all, you have to make sure you do it right. Here’s a list of tips for getting the most out of the show and the events you don’t want to miss out on:
How we incorporate product feedback at PeopleDoc
Here at PeopleDoc, I’m responsible for our Employee File Management and eSignature applications. Along with my colleagues on the Product team, who are in charge of other applications, we receive a lot of feedback about how to make our HR SaaS product better. Receiving feedback and feature requests is very valuable for us. We’re a relatively young company, still with a startup mindset, providing something new, an "HR Service Delivery Platform," and as a result our roadmap is strongly based on the conversations we have with our clients. However, for the person who submits the request, it can seem as though it’s not worth the effort if it doesn't lead to a change in the product.
